A burst underground saltwater pipe sent a water jet nearly two metres into the air beside the pavement near Horse Shoe Lane on Kwun Tong Road, according to a report by Star Headline. The leak affected the road towards Yau Tong, where part of the slow lane was temporarily closed for cleaning and repair.
The Water Supplies Department said the 150-millimetre pipe supplied flushing water to Yue Man Centre. It shut the valve after the leak was reported, stopping the flow at the site.
The department said the remaining traffic lanes stayed open while the affected section was cleared, and that the closed lane would be reopened as soon as possible. The incident was reported in the early afternoon on 15 September.
Its repair team would complete the pipe repairs and restore the flushing-water supply, the department said. It was also maintaining contact with the relevant district office and the building management office.
