A water main burst at about 10am on 27 October at roadworks on the westbound side of Shau Kei Wan Road. Muddy water covered the footpaths and both directions of the road, and passing vehicles drove through it. News reports said the pipe was suspected to have been damaged during the works.

Water also entered a nearby care home and broke a glass pane. An elderly female resident injured her foot and was taken by ambulance to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

The Water Supplies Department said in a notice that water supplies were affected from 11am in Sai Wan Ho, Shau Kei Wan and Aldrich Bay, among other areas.
