Footage played at the High Court on November 2 showed purchases made before Abby Choi disappeared on February 21, 2023. Her former husband, his father and his brother deny murdering her and have admitted a charge of preventing the lawful burial of her body.

Choi’s former brother-in-law was shown buying a hammer, two rolls of black adhesive tape and a roll of double-sided tape at a Kowloon City hardware shop on February 15. The footage also showed him making a striking gesture with the hammer.

Two days later, footage showed Choi’s former father-in-law inspecting and buying a second-hand refrigerator. Shop staff wrapped it in cling film before loading it into his vehicle. The prosecution told the court that Choi’s DNA was found on the wrapping.

Footage from February 21 showed the brothers meeting at a coffee shop. Separate footage showed Choi showing a real-estate agent and a prospective viewer around her apartment and describing its furnishings. The prosecution said the viewing showed she was actively promoting the property.
