Visitors faced long queues for overnight cross-border buses in Mong Kok in the early hours of October 25, after a concert and Halloween events drew crowds around the city.

Canadian singer The Weeknd was scheduled to perform at Kai Tak Stadium on October 24 and 25, while Halloween activities were taking place in several districts over the weekend. One concertgoer told reporters she went to Halloween events after the show, then travelled to Mong Kok for a bus to the border.

She said she waited about an hour. Although she found the overnight bus convenient, she felt its services were too infrequent for the number of passengers. She also said she might not return to Hong Kong in the short term because there were too many people.

Roads around New Tin Highway were also congested, with many taxis, minibuses and cross-border vehicles.
