A 37-year-old driver was arrested after the car he was driving crashed near Wing Sam House at Lung Hang Estate and police found suspected drugs inside it.
At about 9pm on Monday, 14 September, the private car struck an estate gate near Wing Sam House. The driver and a male passenger got out and fled. The driver later reported that three men had robbed him near the crash site.
Police located the driver on Tsuen Nam Road and brought him back to Lung Hang Estate for investigation. Officers found 16 smoking pellets suspected of containing etomidate in the car, along with small quantities of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.
Police said their investigation, including a review of CCTV footage, found that the driver's robbery report was false or that he had deliberately supplied misleading information. He was arrested on suspicion of trafficking in dangerous drugs and misleading police and was being detained for investigation.
The male passenger, reported to be about 40, remained at large. The case was being handled by the Sha Tin District Crime Squad.
