A woman in her 90s was hit by a light goods vehicle at a pedestrian crossing near the junction of Fung Ha Road and Fei Tsui Road in Chai Wan at about 11am on September 11, 2026. She suffered head injuries, was unconscious and was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for emergency treatment.
Reports gave her age as either 90 or 92 and said her surname was 翁. Some reports also said she suffered injuries to her limbs. One report gave the time of the collision as 11.14am.
Star Headline and Ming Pao reported that police arrested the 35-year-old male driver on suspicion of a dangerous-driving-related offence. i-CABLE News reported that the driver was being investigated at the scene. The cause of the collision has not been established.
The vehicle was travelling along Fung Ha Road towards Hing Wah Estate, according to the reports. Accounts differed over the point of contact: Star Headline said the vehicle’s left front struck the woman, while i-CABLE News and Ming Pao said its left-side mirror made contact with her.
Blood was found at the scene, and the light goods vehicle was later towed away for examination.
