A private-car driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after his car collided with the rear of a light goods vehicle near the junction of Tong Mi Road and Lai Chi Kok Road in Mong Kok shortly before 1pm on September 12. No one was injured, according to Ming Pao, Star Headline and i-CABLE News.
The light-goods-vehicle driver reported the collision. After police arrived, the private-car driver was described in the reports as failing or testing positive in a rapid oral-fluid screening test before being arrested.
The screening result was a preliminary indication, and the arrest records suspicion rather than a final judicial finding of drug-impaired driving. The reports give no formal charge, later confirmation of the result or court outcome.
The accounts differ over what happened when the private car was searched. Star Headline reported that police found drugs inside the vehicle, while Ming Pao reported that the search found no suspicious items. Those conflicting accounts remain unresolved.
