A female cyclist was injured and found unconscious after a collision involving a school bus and a bicycle in the Ping Shan area of Tin Shui Wai on 11 September. She was taken by ambulance to Tuen Mun Hospital for emergency treatment.
Ming Pao reported that the school bus was carrying pupils, who were taken away in another vehicle after the crash. The report did not provide further details about the children.
The reported timing is not consistent. Ming Pao placed the crash at about 4pm, while Star Headline said it happened at nearly 5pm.
Accounts also differ on how the collision happened. Ming Pao reported that the bus was travelling along the Ping Shan section of Castle Peak Road before turning right into Ping Kwai Road, where it allegedly struck the bicycle. Star Headline said the bus entered Ping Kwai Road from San Hei Tsuen Street and hit the bicycle near a pedestrian crossing. The precise collision point and sequence have not been established.
The cyclist’s age has also been reported differently. Ming Pao described her as being in her 40s, while Star Headline identified her as a 54-year-old woman surnamed Lui. Ming Pao said she still had breathing and a pulse when she was taken to hospital; the brief contains no later update on her condition.
Star Headline reported that the bus driver, a 67-year-old man surnamed Yeung, was taken to a police station to assist with inquiries. Police are investigating the circumstances, while the exact time, collision location, the cyclist’s latest condition and any further action remain unclear.
