FlyTaxi will stop operating as a standalone taxi-booking service and move fully into the Uber app by the end of December 2026, Uber has confirmed.
Uber acquired the Hong Kong platform in May. At the time, it said FlyTaxi would continue operating normally and that FlyTaxi and Uber drivers and passengers would not be affected. Uber now says the move will use its technology and app features while offering a wider range of trip options.
During the transition, all active FlyTaxi drivers’ points and account balances will be fully refunded, Uber says. Drivers who join Uber will be able to reach a larger passenger base and create more opportunities to increase their income, while eligible drivers may receive exclusive incentives.
FlyTaxi has operated in Hong Kong for nearly 13 years, having been established in 2013. Uber acquired HKTaxi in 2021. HKTaxi stopped operating its app on 1 April 2025 and invited passengers and drivers to move to Uber.
