Superb Interior Contracting Company Limited, the former main contractor for the Anderson Road first-home housing development, filed a High Court claim on 26 October 2026 seeking more than HK$290 million from rebar subcontractor Tak Wang Construction Company Limited.
In its court pleading, Superb alleges that Tak Wang breached its contract and seriously delayed the work. It says it had to spend heavily on investigations, testing and studies of possible remedial work, faced a substantial risk of claims and suffered serious reputational harm.
The project has rebar deficiencies. After they were identified, the developer decided to demolish and rebuild three blocks, and Superb was replaced as the main contractor. Superb alleges that the subcontractor’s breach and delays ultimately led to the rebuilding decision.
Tak Wang obtained the rebar contract in September 2023 for 915 days. The reported service fee was HK$63.47 million.
Superb’s pleading says it had supplied 17,494 tonnes of rebar for the project by 15 October 2024, against a plan requirement of 15,753 tonnes — 11 per cent more.
