Two hikers were suspected of suffering heatstroke at Po Pin Chau in Sai Kung on 27 September, with the Government Flying Service responding twice within about two hours.
Police received the first report at 12:09pm after Civil Aid Service personnel reported that a man was suspected of suffering heatstroke. Rescue personnel and the Government Flying Service attended, and he was flown to a Wan Chai heliport before being taken to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment.
At 1:27pm, police received another report involving a man at the Po Pin Chau viewing platform. He was conscious, and rescue personnel and the Government Flying Service were deployed again. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Hong Kong Observatory had issued a hot-weather warning at 6:45am. Authorities advised people taking part in outdoor activities to drink more water, avoid excessive exertion and prolonged exposure to sunlight, and move to a shaded place to rest if they feel unwell.
