A 40-year-old government employee has pleaded not guilty to allegedly assaulting her 11-year-old son at a unit in Hung Hom on 25 May 2025. LSC appeared at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on 21 September 2026, facing a charge of intentionally assaulting a child in her care in a way likely to cause unnecessary suffering.
X told the court that he had spent the day studying and was resting when his mother became angry about his schoolwork. He said she threw a phone at him, causing pain and bruising to his elbow, before striking his chest once.
X said he attended a private clinic with his father the following day because of chest pain. He said he initially feared that seeking treatment at a civil-service clinic would expose what had happened and lead to his mother's arrest, so they gave a false explanation for the bruising. He said he reported the matter five days after the alleged incident, after his mother continued to verbally abuse him while he studied.
The defence offered a different account based on CCTV footage. It said LSC's husband had asked to inspect her phone during an argument, and that she threw it on to a sofa for him to view. The defence said the phone rebounded and struck X's elbow accidentally, rather than being thrown at him.
Defence questioning also pointed to footage said to show X placing the phone back on the table, walking lightly, making a basketball-shooting gesture and throwing a ball towards his mother afterwards. X denied the suggestions. The defence referred to tensions between the parents and their divorce in July 2025, while X said he had experienced repeated verbal abuse and did not want to see his mother.
The hearing opened on 21 September, and no verdict was reported.
