Hong Kong and Guangdong have signed reciprocal arrangements to make cross-border yacht travel easier, but the arrangement for Guangdong-registered yachts entering Hong Kong has not yet been implemented. The Marine Department and Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration signed the arrangements on 28 September 2026.
The Hong Kong-to-Guangdong arrangement launched in June. It covers Hong Kong yacht owners travelling to nine mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Transport and Logistics Bureau said they can handle cross-border procedures more cheaply and conveniently under the arrangement.
The reciprocal Guangdong-to-Hong Kong arrangement is in the final stage of preparation. The bureau said it would give Guangdong yacht owners the same level of convenience once implemented.
