Hong Kong is expected to see sunny periods, generally cloudy conditions and one or two showers on 23 September, with the urban area reaching about 31°C. Temperatures in the New Territories could be one or two degrees higher, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
Moderate easterly winds are forecast, with occasionally strong winds on high ground. The weather is then expected to settle, with generally fine and dry conditions on 24 and 25 September and temperatures of 27–32°C. The mornings and evenings around the Mid-Autumn Festival and the following day are forecast to be partly cloudy.
On 26 September, there should be sunny periods and isolated showers, while temperatures remain between 27°C and 32°C. The more pronounced shift is forecast from 27 to 30 September, when daytime conditions are expected to be very hot and dry, with highs of 33°C and minimum relative humidity of about 55%.
The period from 27 to 29 September is expected to remain generally fine, while sunny periods and isolated showers are forecast later on 30 September. The Observatory is also tracking a tropical low near Yap Island, which is forecast to strengthen gradually and move towards waters from the Luzon Strait to east of Taiwan later in the week. Its subsequent track remains uncertain.
The low’s peripheral sinking air is expected to contribute to extreme heat in inland Guangdong early the following week. For 1 October, Hong Kong is forecast to be generally cloudy, with one or two showers, brief sunny periods during the day and temperatures of 28–32°C.
