The Hong Kong Police Force reported 4,749 arrests in a joint operation by police in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau targeting triad and organised crime. The figure covers Hong Kong’s part of the operation, not the total across all three jurisdictions.
Hong Kong’s operation ran in two phases, from July 4 to August 8 and from October 9 to October 30, 2026. Police said the wider effort aimed to disrupt cross-border crime and cut off criminal income. Those arrested in Hong Kong ranged in age from 12 to 92 and were suspected of offences linked to triads and drugs.
Police said they checked about 1,500 premises and dismantled about 700 illegal venues. These included gambling establishments, drug dens and unlicensed bars, as well as suspected money-laundering centres and prostitution venues.
The Hong Kong Police Force valued the cash, drugs and other seized items at about HK$697 million. Reported exhibits included about HK$25.3 million in cash, roughly 15,000 litres of illegal fuel and 16.78 million untaxed cigarettes.
Reported drug seizures were about 835 kilograms, according to HK01 and i-CABLE, and about 35 kilograms, according to Ming Pao.
