Hong Kong police on August 14 urged the public to guard against investment scams. A report citing the Securities and Futures Commission’s alert list said two virtual asset trading platforms, BiFinance and Polar Tensor, had been newly listed as suspicious.
The report said both platforms had recently been active in Hong Kong, but did not specify the nature of their activities in the city.
BiFinance and Polar Tensor were also reportedly accused overseas of involvement in scams. Those allegations have not been established as confirmed facts.
Polar Tensor was reportedly preparing a series of luxury events at high-end venues during the weekend after August 14. A suggestion that the events might have been intended to conceal improper activity was unverified.
The supplied report did not specify whether police or the commission had taken further enforcement or regulatory action against the two platforms.
