Hong Kong International Airport aims to grow its network from about 220 destinations worldwide to 240 within five years, Mable Chan, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, said in a blog.

The government’s 2026–2030 approach is to strengthen ties with 10 or more civil aviation partners each year, Chan said. The focus markets are South America, Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Alongside that longer-term target, a cross-airline transfer service through Hong Kong has started. Its first phase connects flights involving Hangzhou and Wuhan with Hong Kong and onward international routes, including Australia and Canada.

Chan said more than 100 cross-airline transfer combinations through Hong Kong are available each week, and ticket sales have begun.
