The Huang Bus cross-border shuttle is due to end on 12 October, when New Huanggang Port opens. Its final northbound service to Shenzhen is scheduled to leave at 6.15am, 15 minutes before the port’s scheduled 6.30am opening.

The Lok Ma Chau–Huanggang service began in 1997 and switched to round-the-clock operation in 2003, after the Lok Ma Chau Control Point introduced 24-hour clearance. It carried 18 million passengers in 2006, an average of more than 49,000 a day. Daily ridership averaged about 10,000 from 2023 to 2025, while passenger numbers had fallen by more than 80 per cent from their peak.

Huang Bus expects large crowds for the final service and says it may close the queue early if necessary. The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd said it and Huang Bus would deploy extra staff and resources that day to maintain order.

Passengers travelling to Shenzhen who cannot board the shuttle can wait at San Tin Public Transport Interchange for the first B11 bus to Huanggang Port, KMB said.
