Water service was planned to be suspended from 11 p.m. on September 10, 2026, in seven Wong Tai Sin estates after a leaking drinking-water pipe was accidentally damaged in connection with electrical works. The Water Supplies Department said the overnight stoppage would allow emergency repairs after the evening peak in demand.
The affected pipe is a 750-millimetre supply main at a pedestrian-trench works site on Po Kong Village Road. The department said it was accidentally damaged after being affected by an electrical-works contractor, causing water to leak.
The estates named as affected were Grand View Garden, Grandeur Terrace, Fu Shan Estate, Sun Lai Garden, King Shan Court, King Hin Court and Regent Villas. Repairs and restoration of supply were expected to be completed by about 7 a.m. on September 11, although bad weather or other unforeseen difficulties could delay the work.
The department said the estates’ building water tanks would provide a buffer and that most users were expected to have sufficient water during the suspension because demand was likely to be lower late at night.
As a precaution, seven water tankers and more than 60 temporary water tanks were arranged near the estates. A support team was also due to deliver temporary water to elderly centres and residents in need.
The department said it had contacted the Wong Tai Sin District Office, the Housing Department, district councillors and estate management offices, and asked the estates to store water in advance. The supplied reports did not confirm whether repairs were completed or water service was restored by the expected time on September 11.
