A fire at a public-housing construction site on Muk Lai Street, Kai Tak, was extinguished in about 10 minutes on September 17. No one was injured and no evacuation was required.
The fire was reported at about 8pm in the lower part of the site, near the first-floor level, sending heavy black smoke into the air. Firefighters arrived and used hoses to tackle the flames.
Footage showed flames and smoke rising from the building under construction, while residents watched from behind a metal fence. The site is near Kai Yan Court.
A preliminary investigation suspected that a refrigerator short circuit caused the fire, but the cause remained under investigation.
