The Northern Metropolis’ core exhibition hall in the Kwu Tung North New Development Area is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027, Development Secretary Bernadette Linn said.
The hall is the largest of three exhibition venues planned to introduce the Northern Metropolis and will present the area’s overall development. The update came during an inspection tour on September 10 by more than 60 Legislative Council members and officials, covering Kwu Tung North, Long Valley Nature Park and related facilities.
Land has been reserved in Kwu Tung North for a museum introducing China’s development and achievements. Another site has been reserved for a swimming pool capable of hosting international-level competitions; no completion or opening timetable was provided for either facility.
Star Headline reported that 12,000 housing units in the Northern Metropolis are due to be completed and occupied over 2026 and 2027. The report did not specify which projects make up the figure or how the units will be divided between the two years.
The exhibition hall is the only facility in the plans with a stated expected completion period. Schedules for the museum and swimming pool, along with a detailed breakdown of the reported housing units, remain unspecified.
