Lai Ka-ying misses Hong Kong family during first Mid-Autumn Festival in space

Lai Ka-ying spent her first Mid-Autumn Festival in space, sending a video greeting from the Tiangong space station on Friday.

She said that looking at the bright moon from orbit, then down at the lights of homes on Earth, made her miss her family and friends in Hong Kong even more. She wished people across the country good health and family happiness, and Hong Kong and Macau residents peaceful, fulfilling lives.

The Shenzhou-23 crew had been in orbit for four months by the festival. Lai also recalled an earlier educational exchange with young people from Hong Kong and Macau, describing the interaction as precious and memorable.

She said letters, drawings and blessings sent by members of the public had reached the crew. The crew would treasure every gesture of support.
