A prominent LED screen has been installed at the footbridge entrance to the Legislative Council building, giving people entering information about public meetings, important activities and developments there. The service began on 14 September 2026, and the screen also carries highlight clips for visitors to revisit.
The entrance is the building’s busiest access point, used by legislators, government officials, staff, visitors and media workers. Legislative Council Secretariat statistics cited by the Legislative Council president show that more than 4,000 people used it on the previous Friday, while more than 800,000 passed through during the previous year.
The president said the screen would include a preview of the coming week’s legislative business, the daily schedule of public meetings, meeting livestreams and important updates about the building. The entrance upgrade was supported by the Legislative Council Commission, with work involving the Secretariat and the government department responsible for buildings.
A restaurant with a new operator also began a trial run at the building on the same day. During the trial, it was scheduled to open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The president said its new menu and dining space were intended to provide a comfortable place for building users to eat and interact, and welcomed visitors to use it.
