A male passer-by confronted a man and sought help from people nearby after hearing a woman cry out in Nam On Lane, Shau Kei Wan. He also comforted the woman before police arrived, according to footage described by Star Headline.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of indecent assault after receiving the woman’s report. He was detained for investigation, while the case was assigned to a crime investigation team in Eastern District.
The incident happened at about 1am on Tuesday, 15 September, when the 34-year-old woman reported that a man had put his arms around her neck from behind and touched her chest as she passed through the Nam On Lane area. Police said she was not injured and did not require hospital treatment.
Several videos described by Star Headline showed a man in a red jersey in the area and captured the woman shouting that he had just grabbed her neck. The passer-by was heard confronting him and asking what he was doing. The woman and the arrested man were reported to be strangers.
