Police arrested a 34-year-old man in Sha Tin on suspicion of voyeurism after three suspected pinhole cameras were found in changing rooms at a 24/7 FITNESS branch on Lek Yuen Street. He remains detained for investigation.
The discovery was reported on 25 September after a member noticed that a gap in a false ceiling appeared unusually wide and saw a small blue point. The member opened it, found a suspected camera and alerted staff, who contacted police.
Police said officers found similar devices in two other changing rooms. The equipment was attached to the false ceiling with black tape, with wiring connected to the ceiling-light wiring.
24/7 FITNESS said it had immediately suspended the man’s membership and provided information requested by police. The operator also said it had introduced new procedures, including stronger inspections across its branches and technology to check concealed areas in bathrooms, changing rooms and toilets.
