Adeel Khan denied assaulting police officer 25443 during a dispute outside a bookstore at Kwai Chung Plaza, while the officer told a magistrates’ court that Khan poked the area of his chest marked “police” about three times.
Khan, a 22- or 23-year-old Pakistani-descended salesperson, entered his denial at a hearing in a West Kowloon magistrates’ court on 15 September 2026. The alleged incident took place on 27 August 2025. He had earlier admitted causing a disturbance in a public place, while the assault charge remains contested.
The officer testified that he went to the plaza at about 4pm on instructions to investigate Khan, and that 20 to 30 people were watching. He said Khan stood very close to him, loudly used Cantonese abuse and questioned whether he understood the law. The abusive remarks lasted about three minutes, he said.
The officer said he warned Khan that he might have committed offences related to loitering and disorderly conduct in a public place. Khan, he said, replied that he held a Hong Kong identity card and told the officer to warn him.
The prosecution said it would not rely on video recorded on the day. The defence argued that footage circulated online did not show an assault.
