The dog went missing after entering the sea off Stanley on the evening of 3 November. Police and firefighters searched into the night, but had not found it by nearly 10pm.
The dog spent the night in the sea before swimming back to shore. Around noon the next day, a volunteer searching after seeing a neighbourhood missing-dog notice spotted it resting on a rocky shore opposite Stanley Ma Hang Park and alerted the owner. Hong Kong Fire Services Department firefighters rescued the dog, wrapped it in a blanket to keep it warm and gave it water.
The owner arrived at about 1pm and was reunited with the dog. Star Headline later reported that the dog had a slight fever and was being taken to a clinic.
