A 31-year-old New Territories taxi driver has been jailed for six weeks after being convicted of dangerous driving. Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts also disqualified him from driving for one year and ordered him to attend a driving improvement course at his own expense.
The case followed an operation on 1 May, when police officers posing as passengers boarded his taxi at Sai Kung Country Park and gathered evidence during the journey. Traffic Kowloon East Region said he drove far above the speed limit and repeatedly wove through traffic in the busy country-park area. Officers later stopped the taxi and arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving.
The driver was convicted and sentenced at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on 21 September.
