A 59-year-old office worker has been jailed for four weeks after pleading guilty to indecently assaulting a female passenger on an MTR train travelling towards Lo Wu.
The incident happened on September 7, 2026. The court heard that, in a crowded carriage, the passenger felt a hard, warm object press against her right thigh three times. She later noticed liquid on her leg, wiped it away and got off at Tai Wo station to seek help from MTR staff because she was frightened. The man was arrested the following day.
At Fanling Magistrates' Court on September 24, magistrate Frances Leung Nga-yan described the case as serious and said the defendant had the capacity to control himself. The court also heard that he had a similar record from 2018.
She said imprisonment was unavoidable, but took the defendant’s genuine remorse into account in imposing the four-week sentence.
