A man suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital in a semi-conscious condition after being struck by a taxi at a traffic-light crossing near Po Tat Estate in Sau Mau Ping on the morning of 14 September.
The taxi was travelling uphill along Po Lam Road towards Tseung Kwan O when it hit the pedestrian near the lights outside Po Tat Shopping Centre. Reports placed the collision between about 9am and 10am, with Star Headline recording the time as 9.51am.
Ming Pao reported that the pedestrian was initially unconscious but regained consciousness after treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital semi-conscious. i-CABLE News said he needed an oxygen mask to help him breathe.
The taxi’s left front or side was damaged, including its headlamp or cover. Ming Pao reported that the driver stopped immediately, called police and was taken in a police vehicle to assist with the investigation.
Police were investigating the cause of the collision, including whether a road user had run a red light. Ming Pao, citing on-scene information, reported that the pedestrian had crossed from the left side of the road and that the taxi may have been unable to stop in time.
