Police arrested two local men, aged 38 and 50, on suspicion of drink-driving during a two-day traffic operation in New Territories North on September 11 and 12, local outlets reported, citing the police account.
The operation was conducted by a task force from the New Territories North Regional Traffic Department’s Enforcement and Control Division. It targeted drink-driving, drug-driving and other traffic offences, with officers setting up roadblocks and stopping vehicles they suspected were being driven unsteadily.
Police said the two men were stopped separately — one on Yuk Hong Street in Tuen Mun and the other on the San Hui section of Castle Peak Road — and allegedly failed alcohol breath tests. They were arrested on suspicion of drink-driving; the allegations do not amount to convictions.
Both men were released on bail pending investigation and must report to police in early October. Any penalties for drink-driving, such as driving disqualification, a fine or imprisonment, would apply only upon conviction and are not outcomes in these cases.
