Police will not enforce parking rules in roadside metered bays until the system is fully repaired, Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said.
The Transport Department said it received a report from operator HKT at about 8.20am on November 3 that the system had failed. Emergency repairs were under way.
By around 10am, some meters had been restored while others remained out of order. On Cheong Lok Street, five of the 10 meters checked were faulty.
