Prosecutors have added an alternative charge alleging that a police officer incited a girl under 16 to commit a serious indecent act, while also amending an existing misconduct charge against him. The case was transferred from Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court to the District Court for a hearing on 8 October 2026.
The amended charge alleges that, between 9 and 12 May 2025, the officer made sexual requests or sexual communications to the girl and/or disclosed information connected with a police investigation. The girl’s boyfriend was being investigated at the time, and the officer was alleged to have been part of the team handling that case. The alternative charge alleges that he incited her to commit a serious indecent act with him.
The prosecution made the application at Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court on 25 September, and Mr Cheang Kei-hong, the acting principal magistrate, approved both the amendment and the additional alternative charge. The officer, a 32-year-old member of the Hong Kong Police Force, appeared without legal representation and told the court he would hire a lawyer.
The officer remained on bail, with bail set at HK$5,000. The court approved the case’s transfer to the District Court, where the next hearing is scheduled for 8 October.
He arrived nearly an hour late for the September hearing and said he had overslept. Mr Cheang warned that another late arrival could lead to bail being refused or cancelled.
