The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will extend opening hours at its public columbaria to 7am-7pm from 26 September to 1 November, covering the Chung Yeung Festival on 18 October. It is urging visitors to spread their visits across the period and avoid the busiest peak on the festival day.
Special traffic and transport arrangements will also apply. Except for authorised vehicles, vehicles will generally not be allowed to enter the department’s cemeteries and columbaria while those arrangements are in force. The escalator beside Cape Collinson-San Ha Columbarium is open to help visitors reach the site.
Visitors planning to use a cremation furnace at Tsang Tsui Columbarium or Cape Collinson-San Ha Columbarium on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday during the period cannot join a walk-in queue directly. They must book online or collect a queue number at the relevant site on the day.
Smoke-free worship arrangements will be in place at Shek Mun Columbarium and Shek Mun Garden of Remembrance. Burning incense and offerings is prohibited, and neither site provides incense-burning or paper-offering facilities. The department encourages visitors to bring fresh flowers instead.
