A saltwater pipe burst at Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate on the afternoon of 31 October, sending water down steps and forcing residents to detour.

The burst was at the estate entrance on Wong Tai Sin Road. An estate management staff member notified the Water Supplies Department to shut off the pipe and carry out emergency repairs, Star Headline reported.

The incident followed a separate burst on 29 October, when a 300-millimetre pipe temporarily halted fresh-water supply across the estate. Residents went downstairs to collect water from tanks and water tankers. The Water Supplies Department adjusted supply, reducing the affected area from all eight blocks to five.

After repair work by the department’s engineering team, fresh-water supply began returning to normal from 3am on 30 October.
