A rebuilt farm in Yuen Long has opened as a place for practical learning about agriculture, smart farming and climate change. The HKFYG Jockey Club Organic Farm held its opening ceremony on 31 October in Tai Lam Country Park, Pat Heung.

The site covers roughly 160,000 square feet and grows different kinds of vegetables, using modern machinery to help with cultivation. The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups runs the climate-smart farming education programme there.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust contributed HK$83 million towards the programme and the farm’s rebuilding and improvement. The Jockey Club expects the programme to benefit about 90,000 students and members of the public over three years.

Activities include guided educational visits, workshops, outreach and farm open days. Participants can plant crops, monitor their growth and learn how food moves from farm to table.
