A 22-year-old student has admitted 12 charges involving four girls aged 14 to 15, in a case that came to light after one complainant died by suicide and her mother found messages in which she had told a friend she had been sexually assaulted. The High Court heard the guilty pleas on 24 September 2026.
The charges included attempted rape, attempted unlawful intercourse, indecent acts, indecent assault, procuring a child under 16 to produce sexual material, and possessing and producing child sexual-abuse material. The alleged conduct also involved requests for intimate images and sexual touching.
The prosecution said the student met one complainant, identified in court as X, online in August 2023 before meeting her at a hotel in Mong Kok later that month. It alleged that he sexually touched her and attempted intercourse, stopping when she said she was in pain. X died by suicide in September.
X’s mother later searched X’s iPad and found messages in which X had told a friend she had been sexually assaulted. X’s mother reported the matter to police, who arrested the student and identified three further complainants during the investigation. The case also included an attempted rape involving one girl who resisted and escaped.
The court heard that police could not establish why X took her own life and that she left no suicide note. Several of the other complainants declined assessments because they did not want to recall the events, so trauma reports were unavailable.
The High Court has ordered psychological and psychiatric reports on the defendant and requested material from the inquest into X’s death. Sentencing has been adjourned to 15 October 2026.
