A tram derailed on Des Voeux Road West at about 5pm on Sunday, striking roadside equipment that then hit a nearby route 18 bus. One male passenger on the bus was injured.
The tram had been travelling westbound, while the bus was heading towards Kennedy Town. The bus operator said its vehicle had stopped while waiting for the traffic lights to change when the derailment occurred. Falling equipment struck the bus’s right side and broke some windows.
The injured man was on the lower deck and suffered a hand injury. Ambulance personnel gave him initial treatment before he was taken to hospital.
Police were investigating what caused the tram to leave the tracks. The bus operator said it was co-operating with the investigation.
