A Threads post said someone saw what appeared to be a rat in the kitchen of a ground-floor restaurant at Maritime Square at about 11.30pm on 31 October.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said it inspected the restaurant and the mall on 1 November, checking environmental hygiene, rodent prevention, and food storage and handling. Inspectors found the restaurant’s food room unclean, and the department said it had immediately initiated prosecution against the licensee for a suspected breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The department said it had carried out about 50 inspections at food premises in Maritime Square during October.
