Police in Lantau arrested a 30-year-old local man and a 57-year-old foreign man during an operation targeting the suspected illegal use of electric mobility devices on 17 September. Two devices connected with the case were seized.
Police said the men are suspected of five offences: driving without a valid licence; driving an unregistered and unlicensed vehicle; using a vehicle without third-party insurance; riding a motorcycle without an approved protective helmet; and driving a motorcycle on a pavement without permission.
Both men were released on bail pending investigation and must report to police in late October. Police warned that using unregistered and unlicensed electric mobility devices on roads, pavements or cycle tracks is unlawful and that, if convicted, those involved may face a fine and possible cancellation of their driving privileges.
