Two colleagues have been remanded after a 49-year-old bar worker was found dead on Hanoi Road in Tsim Sha Tsui in the early hours of 24 September. Police believe the man had been moved there from a bar on Carnarvon Road where he worked.
The 28-year-old man and 44-year-old woman appeared at Fanling Magistrates' Court on 26 September. They were not required to enter pleas. Both were refused bail and remanded in custody.
The pair were jointly charged with obstructing lawful burial. Each was also charged with running a drug den and trafficking dangerous drugs, making five charges in total.
Police said the male colleague reported finding the victim collapsed, while the woman was arrested later that afternoon after surrendering. Investigators searched the bar and reportedly found about 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine, suspected drug-taking equipment and about HK$82,000 in cash. Ming Pao also reported bloodstains in the toilet.
Police initially suspected that the deceased had taken drugs before his death. The case was adjourned to 28 December at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts while investigators await Government Laboratory and autopsy reports.
