Two people were found dead inside a flat at Heng On Estate in Ma On Shan on the evening of September 11 after an odour was reported from the residence. Responding personnel found a man and a woman collapsed in the living room and confirmed them dead at the scene.
Ming Pao reported that the deceased were a 72-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman who were married. The flat was in Heng Yat House at 1 Hang Kam Street.
Police sealed the flat and forensic personnel attended to collect evidence. The initial police assessment was that the case was not suspicious and was not believed to involve a criminal element, according to reports by Star Headline and Ming Pao.
Ming Pao reported that the case was referred to the Sha Tin district crime squad for follow-up. The medical cause of death remained to be established after a post-mortem examination.
