Two local men, aged 33 and 49, have been arrested after two restaurants belonging to the same group in Kwun Tong and Hung Hom were splashed with paint, police said. The men were arrested separately in Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok on 17 September on suspicion of criminal damage and were being detained for investigation.
Police received reports on 8 and 11 September that restaurants in the two districts had been targeted. The Kwun Tong branch was on the second floor at 7 Shing Yip Street, while the Hung Hom branch was on Baker Street.
The Kowloon West Regional Anti-triad Unit carried out an in-depth investigation and reviewed a large quantity of CCTV footage, police said. Officers also seized clothing they said the suspects had been wearing during the incidents.
Police said criminal damage is a serious offence under the Criminal Offences Ordinance and carries a maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment upon conviction.
