Two men found dead in Ap Lei Chau flat after bad-smell report

Two men were found dead inside a flat in Lei Tung Estate, Ap Lei Chau, after police received a report about an odour from the home on 14 September.

Ming Pao reported that the flat’s male resident, aged in his 50s, lived alone and had been out of contact for some time. A bad smell was also coming from the unit, prompting concern. Police received the report at about 2pm; Star Headline gave the time as 2.32pm.

Officers forced their way into the flat and found two men lying inside. Both were dead at the scene.

Star Headline described the occupant as a 54-year-old man. Citing an unspecified source, the newspaper reported that he and the other deceased man were drug users, that they were suspected of having died after taking an excessive amount of drugs, and that the case was believed not to be suspicious.

Ming Pao reported that police were investigating the cause of the deaths.
