A woman in her 50s was found dead with knife wounds to her neck in a residential unit at a Chai Wan estate at about 8pm on 16 September. Police arrested a man believed to be her husband after investigating the scene.
Ming Pao reported that a man had gone to a police station in Kowloon City earlier and claimed he had killed someone. Investigators subsequently went to the estate, where police considered the circumstances suspicious.
The case was assigned to the Eastern District crime unit. It was initially recorded as a request for police assistance, with murder not ruled out. Star Headline later reported that police had changed the classification to murder, while the alleged motive remained under investigation.
