A 69-year-old worker’s right ring-finger tip was severed while he was compressing cardboard with a paper-baling machine at a recycling facility on Kwai Tak Street at 10.41am on October 31, 2026.

He remained conscious and received initial bandaging before being taken by ambulance to Princess Margaret Hospital with the severed part, Star Headline reported.

Police said their initial investigation indicated that the injury was accidental and involved the baling machine.

The Labour Department had been notified and would further clarify the cause, Star Headline reported.
