Flooding affected cycle and pedestrian routes in Sha Tin and a pedestrian tunnel in Tai Po on the evening of October 28. Online users said they had to take detours to get home.

The Hong Kong Observatory had warned that morning that the northeast monsoon and an astronomical high tide could make water levels higher than normal that evening, with minor flooding possible in some low-lying coastal areas.

Near Yuen Wo Playground in Sha Tin, water reached both the cycle path and pedestrian path. In Tai Po, water collected in a pedestrian tunnel that had already been fenced off; the flooding was described as not severe.

The real-time tide information system recorded a high of 3.16 metres at the Tai Po Kau Tide Gauge Station at around 10.30pm.
