More than 20 animals were found dead in an industrial unit at 19–21 Shing Yip Street, Kwun Tong, on 29 October.
The owner arrived with a bailiff at about 10am to recover the unit after losing contact with the tenant. Inside, the owner found dead turtles, lizards and fish and called police.
About 20 turtles and two fish were counted. HK01 and Star Headline reported seven dead lizards; Ming Pao cited an initial police count of two.
Police classified the case as cruelty to animals and are tracing the tenant. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was notified and sent personnel to the unit.
