Tai Po District police said a two-week operation dismantled six illegal gambling dens, four prostitution venues and an illegal fuel station, with 90 people arrested. The operation ran from October 17 to 28, with Hong Kong Fire Services Department and Immigration Department officers taking part.

Police said the fuel station in Sheung Shui was near homes and lacked dedicated fire-safety equipment, posing what they described as a serious threat to nearby residents and buildings.

Officers seized 977 litres of diesel at the outlet, valued at about HK$37,000. Police said the amount could fill the tanks of 16 light goods vehicles.

Of the 90 people arrested, 62 had been charged and the rest were on bail pending investigation, police said.
