Wah Fu North Estate is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, after which residents of two blocks in Wah Fu Estate will begin moving in. The wider relocation is due to finish in the third quarter of 2027. The timetable was presented to Southern District Council on 2 November.
A separate early-transfer scheme is planned for households in three blocks affected by demolition in redevelopment phase 1b who want to move to newly completed public housing. The scheme is expected to offer around 400 flats or more at Wah Fu North Estate for eligible households to choose from; successful applicants are expected to complete move-in formalities in March 2027.
The wider relocation is expected to be followed by demolition to make way for New Wah Fu Estate Phase 1. The other four estates designated to receive residents are expected to be completed in stages between 2028 and 2031.
The first phase is planned to provide about 1,760 homes for around 4,630 people. The Housing Department expects it to be completed in the second half of 2034; it is intended to accommodate residents from two further existing blocks six years earlier than previously planned.
Road changes will unfold on a separate timetable. Pedestrian-facility and road improvements in South Pok Fu Lam are expected to finish during 2027. Part of Wah Fu Road is also planned to be rerouted for the development. The Housing Department / Housing Authority expects to gazette the arrangements in early 2027 and apply to the Town Planning Board for planning permission, with work due to start in mid-2028.
Detailed planning and design for the South Island Line (West) is under way, with the line expected to open in or before 2034. The Housing Department / Housing Authority says it will coordinate on the route and the location of Wah Fu station.
Plans for the new estate include social-welfare facilities, an outdoor courtyard, covered public space and a Wah Fu history archive. They also propose conserving and revitalising the existing shopping centre and the banyan-tree area outside it.
